Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar today said that the "political consensus" over the need to broad-base the process of appointment of Supreme Court and High court judges was in place.
Justices Kurian Joseph and Pinaki Chandra Ghose were sworn in as Supreme Court judges on Friday. Chief Justice of India, Altamas Kabir administered the oath of office.
Justice C Nagappan of the Madras High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. He would take oath of office on February 27.
